Lori Piestewa was a beautiful and proud Native American mother from the Hopi Reservation in Northern Arizona, she was also the first women soldier to be killed in combat during the war in Iraq. This is a set of bears that were made for Mother's Day. Her baby Tonopah is being carried in a cradleboard, which was made of leather and hand beaded. Her owner also requested a dress for Piewstewa which I made of lambskin and decorated with beads. I am sorry I do not have a picture of her in that dress it was perfect for her.
She is a 15" bear made of mohair, and her baby Tonopah is 7" tall made of mohair.
